Taiwanese-Canadian composer-violinist Yu-Jie Jenna Liu is enjoying an exciting and varied musical life. Her path in music had started with playing the violin under the guidance of William Van der Sloot (Mount Royal University Conservatory), later Ian Swensen (San Francisco Conservatory of Music), then Dr. Chelsey Green (Berklee College of Music).

As an avid orchestral musician, Jenna was a former concertmaster of the Berklee Film Scoring Orchestra (2019), which performed under the baton of Harry Gregson-Williams, and the Calgary Youth Orchestra, which toured Germany in the summer of 2014. With keen interests in chamber music, Jenna has performed in various chamber ensemble settings and was also invited by the celebrated Instrumental Society of Calgary to perform in two of their renowned chamber music concerts during the 2016-2017 season. She is also a finalist in the Canadian Music Competition 2017 and the second prize winner for the Frank Simpson Concerto Competition 2016. In 2021, Jenna was awarded the prestigious Alf Clausen Scholarship by the Film Scoring department of Berklee College of Music in recognition of her outstanding achievements and extraordinary talent.

Jenna is fond of sharing and experimenting with different musical ideas. Her background as a classical violinist and jazz trumpeter led her to incorporate various stylistic fusions into her compositions. Since her enrolment at the Berklee College of Music in 2019, Jenna has continued to explore ways to invent new possibilities of sounds that push the borders between standard musical genres.

In December 2021, Jenna has graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Film Scoring and a minor in Conducting.
